"Thinking about flamenco...from other types of music."

Flamenco is a living art form, attentive to the avant-garde while remaining faithful to its own tradition. Its uniqueness, expressive power, musical richness, freedom within ancient codes, and even its apparent exoticism have attracted the attention of musicians from all over the world who have approached flamenco from their respective musical genres: jazz, early music, Celtic music... In a series of stage conferences, Enrike Solinís (baroque guitar) and Pablo Martín Caminero (flamenco, jazz, and classical double bass player) will reveal the keys to their work with flamenco and illustrate it by performing live examples of the music born from this musical encounter.

ENRIKE SOLINÍS
Dialogues between flamenco and early music

Beyond a musical form, jazz is a musical concept that has blended with many other musical forms. Thus, many cultures have developed their own particular way of playing "their own jazz," giving rise to new musical forms such as Latin jazz, tango jazz, Brazilian jazz, jazz-rock, jazz fusion, jazz manouche... and, of course, flamenco jazz.

In this theatrical conference, we will take a brief historical tour and see how the three pillars of flamenco (singing - melody, dancing - rhythm, and guitar - harmony) translate and generate this form of flamenco jazz that is becoming more established every day and capturing the interest of audiences and festivals.

ENRIKE SOLINÍS

Born in Bilbao in 1974, he studied guitar at the J.C. Arriaga Conservatory in Bilbao and early music at the ESMUC in Barcelona. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Concert Performance Cum Laude under the tutelage of maestro José Tomás, and has won numerous international guitar competitions, including Comillas, Ataulfo Argenta, and Andrés Segovia, among others. He has always been attracted to music from different cultures, regions, and eras, reflecting this diversity in his musical personality.

For more than fifteen years, he has been invited to perform as a soloist and continuo player in prestigious early music ensembles such as Hesperion XXI, Le Concert des Nations, and Capella Reial de Catalunya, conducted by Jordi Savall; Concerto Vocale and Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, conducted by René Jacobs; Le Concert d'Astrée, conducted by Emmanuelle Haïm; The Rare Fruits Council, conducted by Manfredo Kraemen; and others, performing on the most significant stages in both Europe and America.

In 2006, he decided to create his own group in Bilbao, Euskal Barrokensemble, which allowed him to develop his ideas and personal career in conjunction with a distinguished group of musicians.

Pablo Martín Caminero

Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz (1974), he completed his studies in classical double bass at the Vienna Conservatory in 1999. After this formative period, he moved to Madrid, where he began his professional career as a performer, composer, and producer.

The diversity of musical styles in which he moves has led him to collaborate with artists and projects of various genres such as Ultra High Flamenco, Abe Rábade Trio, Jorge Pardo, Gerardo Núñez, bandArt, Hippocampus, Chano Domínguez, Niño Josele, Rocío Molina, Enrike Solinís, Rosario La Tremendita, and a long list of other projects in flamenco, jazz, classical, and baroque.

At the same time, this versatility has encouraged him to compose music for films and advertising campaigns since 2006.

He has released four albums to date: Doméstica (BOST, 2005), El Caminero (BOST, 2011), O.F.N.I. (BOST, 2014), and Salto al vacío (BOST, 2016).

He has brought the show 'Double Bach' to life alongside choreographer Antonio Ruz and has also collaborated as a composer on the Spanish National Ballet's production of 'Electra'.

2018 saw the birth of the 'Flamenco Standards' project, and he currently continues his intense musical activity through his band, as well as with the 'Flamenco Standards' concerts, 'Delirium Tremens' by Rosario la Tremendita, 'Enrike Solinís & Euskal Barrokensemble', Abe Rábade Trío, and is preparing to compose his fifth album as a leader.
